Meet the Turkeys
-
Sheila
Sheila is Stanley’s wife. She’s one of the original 4 turkeys that Jodie first rescued. She’s a sweetheart who loves a cuddle. Stanley and Sheila are heritage turkeys. Sheila is a Bronze and Stanley is a Bourbon Red. Heritage turkeys are close to being endangered due to farmers only breeding broad breasted turkeys. Broad breasted are basically turkeys that are bred only for eating and are much heavier with a larger chest. They have a very short life expectancy as their legs can’t hold their weight properly. Heritage turkeys are so so wonderful. They’re chatty and vocal and and so cuddly. They love humans and even develop their own noises to communicate with humans.

Baby Turkeys
The baby turkeys came with Stanley and Sheila and were the first turkeys that Jodie rescued. These two slept in Jodie’s bed and are sooooo cuddly. Still now they run to Jodie and ask for cuddles and will happily sit on her lap for hours. These original turkeys (along with Stanley and Sheila) made Jodie totally fall in love with turkeys. They are the most affectionate of all birds and have such a huge personality. Jodie has since allowed the turkeys to hatch their own eggs as these are heritage turkeys are are very nearly endangered. Jodie plans to educate people about turkeys and how wonderful they are.

Stanley
Stanley, along with Sheila and two baby turkey poults were the first turkeys Jodie rescued and as such remain her babies!! Stanley is such a gentleman. He’s the nicest boy ever and he stands back to let everyone eat before he eats. Stanley is so lovely that Jodie’s dad actually stopped eating turkey after meeting him as he fell so in love with him!!
