Meet the Pigs

  • Bill

    Bill

Jodie went to rescue 2 piglets that were destined for slaughter and came home with 4 in the back of her truck!! Bill is one of three boys and he’s the only one who is all black. He’s also the smallest. The 4 piglets mum was a Kune Kune (the smallest of pigs) and their dad was a saddleback (one of the largest breeds of pig). Bill definitely has more Kune Kune in him (judging from his size). Bill is a gentle boy. He loves a belly scratch and he loves his food. He’s not pushy at all but will come up to you to ask for a belly scratch. He loves snuggling with all the other pigs too.

  • Lafayette

    Lafayette

Lafayette is one of the 4 piglets destined for slaughter that Jodie rescued. He’s a quiet gentle boy who loves a snuggle. He’s no trouble at all and just happily goes about his business rooting for food. He loves everyone and occasionally comes and asks for a belly scratch or an ear rub. He’s a beautiful boy with a lovely temperament.

  • Sooki

    Sooki

Sooki is the only girl pig out of the 4 piglets that were destined for slaughter. Despite being the only girl for ages (before Rebecca and Davina arrived) she is quite happy. She loves her brothers and sleeps snuggled up with them. She’s very friendly and loves people and attention. Sooki is gentle and calm and no trouble at all.

  • Eric

    Eric

Eric is one of the 3 boys that was rescued from slaughter. He’s the biggest of the boys. He’s huge!!!! He’s also the boss of the pigs or the alpha male. He’s quite pushy when it comes to food and attention and will happily push his way to the front to get what he wants. He’s not nasty but just knows what he wants and gets it. He loves belly scratches and cuddles. When he was a tiny baby he used to fall asleep on Jodie’s lap. He’s far too big for that now but you can often find Jodie sleeping on Eric’s belly!!

  • Rebecca

    Rebecca

Rebecca had never met another pig before she came to Fripps. She had lived in a stable alone, having been rescued from slaughter. Jodie was worried that she wouldn’t know how to behave with other pigs and after an initial show of dominance and small fight, she immediately realised that life on the farm with other pigs, was in fact brilliant. She now sleeps snuggled up with all the pigs (which melts Jodie’s heart). Jodie can’t believe how well she’s adapted to life with all the other animals. The only problem with Rebecca is that when she’s in season she gets REALLY horny and chases Jodie round the farm. It can be quite scary having a 200kg pig chasing you!! Other than her extreme horniness, Rebecca is a darling who is so loved.

  • Davina

    Davina

Davina, like Rebecca, had never met another pig before she came to Fripps. She was massively overweight and had been living in unacceptable conditions. She basically hadn’t seen daylight for 2 years as she’d been kept in a shop. Davina is the biggest Diva on the farm and screams for her food. She’d been fed a diet of ice creams and cakes so she wouldn’t eat pig nuts at first. Now, having lost weight, she happily eats her pig nuts and all her fruit and veg. Davina has only recently realised that snuggling with the other pigs at night is lovely. Before, she used to sleep on her own in a giant nest she built. Davina is the loveliest girl ever and is basically like a giant ten tonne puppy!! She loves people and other animals and she LOVES cake and bread haha.

  • Esther

    Esther

Esther was found as a baby running down the road, having escaped from a pig farm. A couple kept her and hand reared her but then she got too big. They asked every rescue centre they could think of and no one wanted her until eventually they asked us and we said yes. Esther is a Large White pig. She was bred for meat. She is your typical meat pig so is where your burgers, sausages, bacon, ham, gammon and pork chops come from. When she arrived, the couple that had her said they had thought they were going to have to slaughter her as they couldn’t keep her and nobody else would take her. We are so glad they found us as Esther is the most amazing friendly pig ever. Pigs are so intelligent and Esther is super clever and got so much character. She’s the biggest pig we have and weighs about 340kg. She makes all our other pigs looks tiny. She loves being stroked and scratched and she’s very vocal and always chatting to us. We think she’s about 3 years old. Within a day she was friends with all our other pigs and is loving life here at Fripps. We are all in love with her. She’s a beautiful girl and so loving.

  • Coco

    Coco

Coco came to us with Jasmine and Monty the ponies. It was a very sad hand in as their owner didn’t want to give them all up but had no choice. Coco is a very stubborn little lady. She’d never met another pig before so she’s going to take some time to settle in and get used to living with the other pigs. Her favourite food is fruit and she loves pears, mango, apples and pomegranate. Coco comes across as quite grumpy but we think she’s just a bit confused at her new home with all the other pigs. We think she’s going to settle in fine.

  • Deborah

    Deborah

Deborah is a tiny kune kune pig. She was found wandering alone in a graveyard but had actually been out and loose for 3 days. She was on heat and underweight when we got her. We think someone dumped her as they no longer wanted her. She’s only young and very friendly. Two wonderful ladies and their children managed to get her into their horse box and bring her to Fripps late one night. The police and another well known animal charity had attended the scene but had said there was nothing they could do and left. When Deborah arrived here she was starving hungry so we gave her a lovely meal of pig nuts and some apples. She seems to have taken a shine to Coco and now sleeps next to her. She’s the smallest pig we have and she’s so cute and loving. She isn’t scared of all the bigger pigs so we just know she’s going to be just fine here. We love her already.
