Meet the Llamas

  • Katerina

    Katerina

Katerina is one of three llamas who came to Fripps in 2022. She’s mum to Katherine who also came here. The three llamas were no longer wanted by their owner who got in contact with Jodie and asked if she would take them. They hadn’t had much human contact so were extremely nervous around people. It was the hardest job ever getting them into a horse box to bring them to the farm. In fact, we only managed to get the two girls here on one day and had to go back another day to get Alaric the male. Although they are still nervous, they have grown to trust Jodie and now come to her and eat out of her hand. Jodie’s mission is to get them all to be as cuddly as all the other animals on the farm as she knows they will just love head and face scratches if only they would let her do it. They are wonderful animals, they are soft and gentle and have never spat at anyone despite their nervousness. They get on perfectly with all the other animals and happily share a shelter at night with the goats, sheep, pigs and emus!!

  • Alaric

    Alaric

Alaric is one of three llamas who came to Fripps in 2022. Alaric is the only male. The three llamas were no longer wanted by their owner who got in contact with Jodie and asked if she would take them. They hadn’t had much human contact so were extremely nervous around people. It was the hardest job ever getting them into a horse box to bring them to the farm. In fact, we only managed to get the two girls here on one day and had to go back another day to get Alaric. • Lucien

    Lucien

Lucien is the son of Katerina and the brother of Katherine. He wasn’t getting on well where he was so his owners asked us to take him. Apparently he was quite aggressive in his previous home but from the moment we got him out of the horse box at Fripps he was as gentle as anything. The reunion between him and his mum and sister was very happy. They showed no signs of aggression and now they are all one big happy group. Lucien is the biggest of all the llamas here, he’s enormous!! He’s very confident and from his first day here was coming up to Jodie and eating out of her hand. He’s a very handsome boy and we all love him. We’re so happy to have been able to reunite him with his family and he’ll have a forever home here with us.

  • Josie

    Josie

We were asked to go and rescue some llamas who had been left neglected in a field. Josie and her sister Lizzie were terrified of humans and in a really bad state. They’d never been sheared. It was so difficult catching them and took 8 of us to finally get them into our horsebox. Once safe at Fripps they met other llamas for the first time and now they’re a happy little group. Our other llamas took to them straight away and they’re all inseparable now. We love seeing them all together.

  • Lizzie

    Lizzie

Lizzie and her sister Josie were badly neglected. They’d been left in a field with no water and had never been sheared. They were both terrified of humans. The neighbours of where they were being kept staged an intervention and asked us to go and get them (with the owners permission). It was so difficult catching them as they were so scared. The second they arrived at Fripps it was like they’d always been here. They immediately became friends with our other llamas and now they’re all inseparable. We are so happy they have friends and are being looked after properly now. They are such sweet girls.
