Claudette is a genet. We rescued her from a house when her owner no longer wanted her and she wasn’t being kept in the right environment. Genets originate from Africa and they are carnivores. They’re related to mongoose and civits although have a cat like appearance. Claudette is very shy and scared of humans. We have no idea what happened to her before we took her but we’re slowly building her trust. Her favourite foods are defrosted chicks and mice (which we buy in bulk) and she is nocturnal so spends most of the day sleeping. She lets Jodie stroke her now and Jodie has spent hours with her trying to reassure her and gain her trust. Genets are solitary so she doesn’t need a mate or friend. She’s quite happy sleeping during the day and then coming out to eat and play at night. She is the most stunning girl and we are in awe of her markings.
