Meet the Geese

Donald
Donald and Theodore came to Fripps because the man who had them previously didn’t want them anymore and said he was going to “wring their necks”. Another lovely man stepped in and said not to do that and that he would find them a home. Luckily he was friends with Claire (head of operations) so he contacted her and asked if Jodie could give them a home. Of course she said and she fell in love the first time she met them. Donald (at the back) is only a year old but Theodore is very very old. They are best friends and stick to each other like glue. They settled in immediately at Fripps and are living alongside Emoo and the ducks and peafowl. They are full of character. The first night they arrived, Jodie put them into their own little house and they snuggled into the straw and went to sleep. They’re quite brave and they let Jodie pick them up. They’re lovely boys who deserve a wonderful life and that’s exactly what they will get!

Ivana and Michelle
Sadly our oldest goose Theodore passed away recently (according to his previous owner he was 32 years old!!!) and Donald was left alone so we popped along to a local farm to see if they had any geese we could take to keep Donald company. And so here are Ivana and Michelle, who are quite literally the most ferocious animals on the farm. They try to kill us all daily. Did you know that geese have teeth?? Well they do and we have the cuts and bruises to prove it. These girls are so feisty it’s unreal. They even try to bite us when we’re feeding them!!! Still, we love them and they give us hours of amusement. They’re so funny! We secretly love the feisty/naughty animals here so these two fit right in!!!

French Toulouse Geese
These two are French Toulouse Geese. Both boys, they came to us when their owner no longer wanted them. They’re very friendly and tame and they have immediately taken to our other geese and now all hang out together all day and sleep snuggled together at night. Their names are Edgar and John. Geese can be quite scary and vicious (did you know they have teeth?!) but these two make everyone love geese. They’re wonderful!
