Buddy
Buddy was destined for slaughter. He was up in Newcastle and every day a lady called Nadia would go and stroke him through the fence. He was like a giant puppy. She fell in love with him and bought him from the farmer to save his life. She then contacted Fripps to ask if he could come and live his life here. Jodie’s amazing friend Andrea Wylie (of the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation) then arranged transport to bring Buddy to Fripps. The moment Buddy arrived we all fell in love with him. He really is like a giant puppy. He absolutely loves cuddles and particularly likes a neck and chin scratch. He will happily lie down and go to sleep on your lap whilst being cuddled. Buddy steals everyone’s heart when they meet him. He’s such a gentle, loving boy. Buddy has even turned some of Jodie’s friends vegetarian as after they saw videos of him asleep on Jodie’s lap, they decided they could no longer eat meat. Go Buddy!!!!

Hamish
We were told about Hamish in 2023 and he had an awful story. Basically he’d been left neglected in a field near a river. He had a cow friend with him but sadly the other cow fell in the river and drowned. Hamish had been alone for 5 years. Cows need other cows as they are herd animals so the local people gathered together to try to save him. When they spoke to the farmer, he said “I’m going to shoot him” or at other times he said he was going to send him to market. Eventually he agreed to let us take him (after weeks of serious negotiation) but told us that he wanted £800 for him and he wouldn’t budge. Jack, Steph and Jodie went down to the river in March of 2024 and some of the lovely locals met them there to help. It took 2 hours of team work to get Hamish into the horse box. It wasn’t an easy rescue. Everyone was terrified of ending up in the river, or worse, of Hamish ending up in the river!! Finally we got him into the horsebox and brought him home to Fripps where he will live with our other cows and sheep and goats. He will have the BEST life now. He didn’t even have a bucket of water where he was before and had been drinking out of the swampy marsh land ponds. Hamish is 11 years old so he’s got a long while left yet. We plan to give him the best food, the most cuddles and the safest home ever. He’s such a handsome boy and he’s SO friendly. He loves a head scratch. Everyone who knew about him over the last 5 years always said how sad and depressed he looked. He will never be lonely again!!! We all love him so much.

Jerry
Jerry came to us with his twin sister Holly. They were saved from slaughter by another animal rescue centre and then we gave them a forever home. They were so nervous when they first arrived but seeing Buddy’s reaction to them made Jodie cry. Buddy started jumping and running round the field with excitement. He knew they were his own kind. Jerry is slightly more confident than his sister Holly and will come over and lick your hand. He’s a lovely sweet boy and so gentle. We love him so much.

Holly
We got asked to take Holly and her twin brother Jerry to save them from going to slaughter. Another animal rescue centre had stepped in and bought them from the farmer but had nowhere for them to go. They had asked everyone they could think of before they asked us and we said yes. They arrived at night in the dark and it was a real mission trying to get them off the lorry and into our field. The guy who brought them was a cow transporter and he told us “they’re dangerous” and we all wondered what we’d gotten ourselves into! Turns out they were just scared and they are the sweetest pair. They are learning to trust us and have become best friends with Buddy!! Jodie cried when Buddy saw them for the first time as he started doing zoomies and jumping round the field with excitement. He finally had friends of his own! Holly is still nervous of people but she’s getting there and she loves her food. We adore her. She’s such a beautiful girl.
