Meet the Cats
-
Babycat
Babycat was found on a farm at 4 weeks old and her mother had been killed. Jodie gave her a home immediately but she was very sick and spent weeks in the animal hospital with Jodie visiting every day. She’s feral and won’t let anyone touch her except Jodie but she loves all the other cats and constantly goes to them asking them to groom her. She sleeps snuggled up with them too. She’s the most beautiful cat and we think she has some Bengal in her.
-
Maybellene
Maybellene is a Himalayan Persian. She, like Babycat was very sick as a baby and spent weeks in the animal hospital with Jodie visiting every day to cuddle her. Now fully fit and healthy she’s the most loving cat in the world. She adores every human and animal she meets. She licks everyone who touches her and she loves nothing better than to curl up on your lap. If there are people at the house sitting on different sofas, Maybellene spends the whole night going between the two sofas as she doesn’t know who to sit with and wants to give everyone attention. She is wonderful girl with the biggest heart.
-
Smudge
Jodie saw an advert on Facebook asking if anyone would re-home Smudge and she immediately went to get her. Smudge was so scared for the first few weeks but she soon settled in and now lives the life of Riley. We always say she is “married” to Spider as they’re like an old married couple. One minute they’re washing each other and the next they’re shouting at each other. They’ve never had an actual fight but they stand howling at each other like they’re having an argument. It’s very funny to watch. Smudge is the equivalent of autistic as she very much lives in her own little world and will only interact with people or animals on her terms. She’s quite happy being on her own but her favourite thing is lying on her back with all her legs in the air on Jodie’s legs and having belly scratches.
-
Spider
Spider is a Ragdoll who came from a kitten farm. Jodie rescued him and another cat called Sugar at the same time but sadly Sugar died from FIP (a disease that is fatal to cats) after a lengthy stint in the animal hospital. Spider is extremely vocal and always talking to anyone who goes near him. He’s also extremely loving and snuggles up with all the other cats. Ragdolls aren’t like other cats in that they are very friendly and not scared of anything so they don’t really have a survival instinct. He would honestly walk up to a lion and rub himself against it!! He gives the best cuddles and every night when it’s bedtime and lights go off, he cries and shouts at the door because he doesn’t want you to leave him.
-
Bobcat
Bobcat is a Persian Chinchilla. He’s categorically the funniest cat in the world. He knows he’s cute and plays on it. He poses for the camera, he shows off to anyone that looks at him and he loves everyone. He probably has the most character of any animal at Fripps. He will have you laughing all day with his antics. If anyone puts a handbag down he will be straight in it. It’s honestly like he’s looking for ways to make to you laugh. He’s also the “washer” of the group. He washes all the other cats whether they like it or not. When some of the others had been in the animal hospital at different times, Bobcat would look after them once they came home. He’s the daddy of them all and totally rules the house. He is wonderful.
-
Obi
Obi was really sick as a baby so once again Jodie spent weeks in the animal hospital visiting him every day. We think he may have some Ragdoll in him as he has long fur and lots of similar traits to Ragdolls. However Obi is the naughtiest cat here. He’s always looking for ways to cause mischief. He’s not scared of anything and wants to be involved in everything you’re doing. His favourite trick is to hide and then jump out on the other cats to make them jump. He’s like a little comedian. He knows full well what he’s doing and enjoys every minute of it. He gives lovely cuddles but always wants to play. He particularly loves winding Smudge up as he knows that she keeps herself to herself and he wants her attention. His nickname is Bogey as when he was little he always had bogeys in his nose and Jodie used to have to pick them out to unblock his nostrils. He is hilarious.
-
Maggie
Jodie saved Maggie but really Maggie saved Jodie. Jodie was at Wanderers Haven animal rescue one day making a video about the dogs there that needed a home. She picked Maggie up for a cuddle and they locked eyes and that was that. She went home with Jodie that day. She was found in a plant pot at 5 weeks old and wasn’t in the best of health so another long stint in the animal hospital followed and Jodie, going there every day to cuddle her, formed a bond with her. At that time in Jodie’s life she was going through some personal problems and Maggie showed so much love and gratitude that she totally changed Jodie’s life for the better. Now Jodie and Maggie still have the most incredible bond ever. Maggie would happily sit on Jodie’s shoulder all day long and never move. She is obsessed with Jodie and never leaves her alone. Jodie is madly in love with all her animals but Maggie definitely has a very special place in her heart. She is one in a million.
-
Pumpkin
Pumpkin is one of the newest cat rescues here at Fripps. She came along with Rupert. She’s a British Shorthair. Her owner didn’t want them anymore as they didn’t like the cat hair in the house!! She wanted them to go to a good and loving home so here they are. Pumpkin is the sweetest girl ever. She loves strokes and cuddles and constantly brushes round Jodie’s legs for fuss. She has one little quirk (don’t all cats) which is that she doesn’t like anyone near her (cat or human) while she’s eating and will hiss at anyone who tries to come near her. Introducing her and Rupert to the other cats was the smoothest an introduction has ever gone. Jodie kept them in rooms next to each other for a few days so they could hear and smell each other and then one day she just opened the door and that was that. No fights; nothing. They just all got on!!! Pumpkin is so beautiful and she has fit in so well here. She’s full of character and we are so happy to have her. We think she is about a year old. She needs to be spayed so we will have to try and raise the money for that!! Luckily all the other cats have been done so there’s no danger of her getting pregnant.

Rupert
Rupert is one of the newest cat rescues at Fripps, along with Pumpkin. Their owner didn’t want them anymore due to not liking the cat hair in the house but she wanted them to go to a good and loving home so here they are. We think Rupert is a British Longhair but he seems to also have a bit of Ragdoll and maybe even Maine Coon in him. He’s a big chunky boy!!! He is the most gorgeous colour we’ve ever seen! A sort of peach colour with the most piercing blue eyes. He’s so friendly and loving. His only quirk is that he doesn’t like being picked up but he wants constant head and ear strokes. Rupert spends most of his time rolling about on the floor. As soon as you stroke him, he throws himself to the floor and rolls about. He just loves attention. The introduction to the other cats was the best introduction ever. Jodie simply put Pumpkin and Rupert in a room next to the other cats so that they could smell and hear each other and then one day she opened the door and left it open. Since then they have all lived together quite happily without a single fight!! We think Maggie is a bit taken with Rupert as she’s always fussing round him. But then Maggie does love everyone! Rupert is a like a mini lion with a huge mane! He’s so handsome and is going to have the best life ever at Fripps. Rupert loves his food and is very vocal. As soon as he sees Jodie he starts shouting for food and attention. He’s a gorgeous boy and everyone is in love with him and Pumpkin already!!

Gertrude
Gertrude is one of Pumpkin and Rupert’s babies. We decided to keep three of the four (staff member Jack had one) as we had so much trouble with vetting people for re-homing and with the house move and everything else we had going on, we felt that it was better that we keep them. We know we can give them the best life and the most love and attention and also it’s nice to keep the little family together. They are all the most loving cats ever and although they all get on brilliantly with all of our other cats, they do all tend to stick together and sleep snuggled up together. It’s so lovely to see.

Jeremiah
Jeremiah is one of Pumpkin and Rupert’s babies.

Daisy
Daisy was brought to us at only 10 weeks old when her owner realised she didn’t actually have the time for her. She is the sweetest, most loving cat ever!!! She wants to be held constantly and she never stops purring!! She is so affectionate. She would spend literally all day on your lap if she could. We are utterly in love with her. She is so so special.
-
Beryl
Beryl was brought to us heavily pregnant. She was a stray and was being tormented by local children. A worried lady caught her and brought her here to have her babies in safety. She had 4 kittens shortly after arriving and she is the best mummy. A few days after she had her kittens we were then brought another cat who had just given birth to 4 kittens (Beauty) so we put the two mums together and they have since become firm friends with all 8 kittens growing up together. They are all wonderful and it’s so lovely to see them all growing in confidence. Beryl is so friendly and loving. It’s like she knows she’s safe now and she LOVES a fuss made of her.
-
Beauty
Beauty was brought to us a couple of days after having 4 kittens. She had been passed around many homes before coming to us and we were even told that somebody had tried to drown her and her kittens!!!! We soon found out that probably the reason nobody wanted her was because she was utterly feral. Nobody could get near her and even when we went into the room to feed her she would growl and launch herself at you with claws and teeth! Jodie and Jack both sustained many cuts from her as she went ballistic trying to “protect” her kittens. She was without doubt the most feral cat any of us had ever met. Within a month of her being at Fripps she had totally transformed. She is now loving and affectionate and rolls around on the floor for strokes and belly tickles. None of us can believe the change in her. All she needed was to feel safe and loved!! She is the best mummy to her babies and we all love her so much. Beauty and her babies will have a forever home here as we will not have them passed around any more.
-
Rosie
Rosie was brought to us when her owner could no longer take care of her. She’s a Ragdoll and we knew she’d fit in just fine with our other cats as Ragdolls have very chilled and loving temperaments (and we have a few of them now!). From the moment she arrived, Rosie acted like she’d been here for years and immediately befriended all the other cats. She’s a beautiful, friendly girl who loves a cuddle.
-
Linda
Linda came to us at 2 weeks old with her mum and siblings. Their owner had kicked the mum cat out onto the street when he realised she was pregnant. A very kind lady took her in so that she could have her babies in her house but then she needed to find somewhere for them to go. She brought them to us. We ended up re-homing two of the kittens to a friend when they were old enough but we kept mum cat, Linda and two of her siblings. Linda is so sassy but so loving. She constantly wants fuss and cuddles. She is adorable. Because we handled her a lot from her being 2 weeks old, she’s very confident and is not scared of anything. She will go to anyone and be picked up by anyone. We love her so much.
-
Ann
Ann came to us at 2 weeks old with her mum and siblings. Their owner had dumped mum cat on the street when he realised she was pregnant. Ann, her mum and two of her siblings will stay here at Fripps for life. It’s really hard to find homes for black cats so we decided to keep them rather than go through the stress of home checks etc. Ann is so confident as we handled her a lot from her being 2 weeks old. Ann is in love with our protection dog Manic. She flirts with him daily and rubs her head all over him. He’s so gentle and good with her. We love seeing them together.
-
Scotty
Scotty is one of 5 siblings that came to us at 2 weeks old with their mum Stella. Stella’s owner had kicked her out onto the street when he realised she was pregnant. We re-homed two of the siblings when they were old enough but we kept Scotty, his mum and two of his siblings. Because we handled them lots from when they were tiny they are very confident. Scotty is very cheeky and always getting up to mischief. He loves to play-fight with his two sisters and he’s so loving towards people. He loves a cuddle and is always on someone’s lap.

Stella
Stella had just had a litter of kittens when she came to us with all 5 kittens. Her owner had kicked her out onto the street when he found out she was pregnant. A lovely lady took her into her home to let her have her babies but then couldn’t keep them so she brought the whole family to us. Once the kittens were old enough we re-homed two of them to a friend and then kept Stella and three of her babies. Stella is deaf so needs a little more attention than some of our other cats. She’s such a good mumma and is so loving. She will stay here with us forever now. She’s very happy here and gets a lot of fuss and attention. We adore her.
