    Rosie

Rosie the Rottweiler is the only animal that wasn’t rescued. Jodie rescued Ralph, a huge male Rottweiler and fell head over heels in love with him so she decided to get a female to go with him as she only had smaller dogs at that point and she felt Ralph needed a big dog to play with. Ralph and Rosie were joined at the hip and totally loved each other. Sadly Ralph died in 2021 after a horrific time with cancer. Rosie is a big softie and loves all the other animals at the farm. She loves cuddles and attention and thinks she’s a small dog as she tries to sit on everyone’s lap. She’s an amazing guard dog too and doesn’t let strangers in or even near the house. Most delivery drivers are scared of Rosie. Rosie was poisoned a few years back by a nasty person who put poison down and Jodie spent a horrific 3 months going to the animal hospital every day to see her while they tried to save her. She nearly died 4 times and had to have her stomach taken out of her body to be repaired before being put back in (it had rotted away from the poison). Jodie spent nearly £10,000 to save her life. Rosie is fit as a fiddle now and just wants to be loved by Jodie and all her friends.

  • Nora

    Nora

Nora came to us at only a few days old. She was found wandering alone on a road. We think she must have fallen off a lorry of pigs destined for slaughter. She was extremely sunburned, had pneumonia and was very poorly. The wonderful couple who found her drove for two hours late at night to bring her to us. Nora spent a lot of time in the vets, with three emergency late night visits when she collapsed at home. In between that she was so loved by all of us. She slept on Jodie after her feeds and was non stop cuddled and kissed. Sadly we lost her after a week as she was just too poorly. We tested her for everything and the conclusion we came to was that something was blocked or twisted inside as she was constantly constipated and being sick. She wouldn’t have done well under anaesthetic and the vet was sure he wouldn’t be able to fix whatever the problem was anyway. We tried everything for her but it just wasn’t enough. We were all heartbroken to lose her. She was the sweetest, most innocent little baby ever.

  • Vernon

    Vernon

Vernon is a Chinese Water Dragon. His is a sad story with a happy ending. Claire, Jodie’s friend saw him for sale in a shop. His whole face was smashed in and bleeding (from banging his face against the glass of his tank). The tank he was being kept in was far too small and his spikes had all been burned off from being kept too close to his heat lamp. He also had mouth rot and an infection. Claire called Jodie and said “if I buy this dragon now will you give him a home and care for him?” Jodie said yes and Claire rushed him over to her. Jodie took him straight to the vet who said he wouldn’t make it, that he was too ill and had too many things wrong with him from being kept so badly. Jodie went home with a list of things to do for him (including two baths a day in a special bathing powder) and a ton of painkillers and antibiotics. Today Vernon is like a different creature. His face has totally healed up, his infections and mouth rot have gone and he’s put on loads of weight. Despite having such a horrendous life before, Vernon is the most loving creature ever. He LOVES cuddles and has captured the heart of all of Jodie’s followers on Instagram and also all of Jodie’s friends. He is a truly amazing boy. A fighter!!! Thanks to Jodie and Claire he now has a wonderful life in a huge new 8ft long tank (provided for free after they heard about his plight) from Southdown Aquatics. Vernon is a star and has his own fans now after people avidly watched his recovery on Jodie’s Instagram stories!

  • Kol

    Kol

Kol is one of two lambs that came from a farm in Wales. He was orphaned and a lady took him home to bottle feed him for the farmer. Her friend had also taken a lamb home and her friend had decided that she wanted to buy her lamb from the farmer as she didn’t want want him going to slaughter. Lambs can go to slaughter as young as 10 weeks old!!!! This friend then persuaded Kol’s foster mum to do the same and so both lambs were saved from slaughter and brought to Fripps where they will live a lovely life with all the other sheep and goats. Kol was only 2 weeks old when we took him in. He’s had a few problems and we’ve had to have the vet out multiple times for him. The problem with taking lambs like this is that we don’t know if they’ve had colostrum. Colostrum is the first milk that mum produces and contains all the antibodies the lambs need. If lambs don’t get colostrum then they often don’t live very long. We are keeping everything crossed for Kol. He’s a big strong boy other than his recent issues he’s had so hopefully he’ll be ok !!!

Kol had been through so much in his short life. He came to us with lungworm and a cold with a very snotty green nose and a bad cough. He then got attacked by a dog which tore half his ear off. He then had an abscess on his neck the size of a tennis ball which burst and left a nasty wound. He then got flystrike which is where flies lay eggs in their wool and the maggots hatch out and eat their flesh. To be honest we were all surprised he lasted as long as he did. He was such a special little boy and took it all in his stride. We nicknamed him the sheep with 9 lives. We couldn’t believe he could go through so much and still be thriving. Anyway one morning we were in the middle of taking in some more rescues when all the lambs came to greet us except Kol. He had passed away in his sleep in his shelter. We think his heart just gave up. He’d had so much medication from the day he came to us, it can’t have been good for him. We all loved Kol so much. He is so sorely missed.

  • Jasper

    Jasper

Jasper was found by a member of the Fripps team alone outside a house. He was emaciated, clearly not well and begging for attention. We took him straight to the vets whereby we found the owner through his microchip and she said she didn’t want him. We had all his blood works done and he was very very poorly. He was also very old. The owner signed him over to us whereby we got him on the correct medication and took care of him. Because of his conditions and age, Jasper only lived for a few months longer before he passed away in his sleep but we gave him the best few months ever. We gave him so much fuss and attention and love, which is all he wanted. He was so loved by all of us and we couldn’t believe that his owner could so cruelly kick him out onto the street. We are so happy we gave Jasper all the love for the last few months but also so sad that he lost his fight as we all loved him so much.
